Description

Operating a heavy 10,340-pound, 82-horsepower vertical-lift loader requires Caterpillar 289C compact track loader tracks that can handle intense digging torque without slipping when you are pushing a full bucket. Because this first-generation C-series machine drives massive tractive power across an extended structural frame rail, standard aftermarket tracks frequently stretch out or throw links on tough terrain. Our heavy-duty replacement rubber tracks are built specifically to solve that problem, mounting directly to the longer C-series chassis with no tensioning issues. By running continuous high-tensile steel cords straight through the inside of the carcass, we eliminated the weak internal seams that typically snap under pressure, keeping your machine out of the repair shop and working on the jobsite.

Our tracks feature deep tread depth and thick cut-resistant rubber to prevent tearing. The internal drive links are precisely spaced to align with your CAT undercarriage, giving you a smoother ride and reducing cab vibration.

Rubber Track Manufacturing & Materials

Our rubber tracks for the Caterpillar 289C are built to strict manufacturing standards that surpass standard aftermarket alternatives. Here are a few key features in our manufacturing:

  • Continuous Steel Cable: Internal seams are the leading cause of track failure on heavy equipment. We eliminate this weak point entirely by wrapping a single, unbroken strand of high-tensile steel cable from edge to edge. This continuous-wound core ensures your track won’t snap under max load.
  • Forged Iron Links: Every internal link insert is manufactured from forged iron. This ensures proper alignment with the equipment’s sprocket teeth, lowering the risk of throwing a track on uneven and steep slopes.
  • Durable Natural Rubber: Engineered from a premium, tire-grade natural rubber blend, these tracks are highly resistant to rock puncturing and asphalt chunking. This advanced compound also prevents dry rot when your machine sits on sunny jobsites.

Track Profile Selection Guide

The large-frame CAT 289C undercarriage relies on a dedicated 450mm wide track configuration built across a longer structural frame rail:

  • 450mm (Standard 18-Inch Wide): These wide tracks spread the loader’s 10,340-pound weight across a wider ground footprint. Running these heavy-duty 450x86x60 rubber tracks gives you a wide contact patch that floats right over slick clay, loose sand, or deep mud without tearing up a customer’s lawn.
  • 289 Submodels: Please check your machine’s data plate before ordering. While the newer 289D model uses 56 links, the older C-series frame relies on a longer layout that strictly requires a 60-link track. A 56-link track will not fit your 289C machine.

Our premium replacement tracks for Cat 289C CTLs are manufactured to match original factory dimension setups for flawless field installation and proper mechanical tensioning.

Cat 289C Track Tread Options

Optimizing your Cat 289C tracks requires matching your tread pattern to your daily jobsite surface conditions. A machine spinning its tracks all day on abrasive concrete or hardpack gravel requires a radically different rubber footprint than a loader navigating slick clay or deep commercial mud. We stock multiple application-specific tread designs to maximize your traction and extend your track wear life:

Undercarriage Fitment Guide

Installing brand-new tracks on severely worn sprockets, rollers, or idlers accelerates track wear and causes tooth skipping. Because the 289C relies on heavy steel undercarriage frame setups, keeping tabs on your wear parts is vital. Prior to mounting your new rubber tracks, always inspect your matching CAT 289C undercarriage components:

  • Drive Sprockets: Check for thin or pointed teeth. Worn teeth will grind away the rubber coating on the internal iron links of your track.
  • Front & Rear Idlers: Ensure they spin freely and are not grooved out, which ruins track alignment and correct tensioning. Confirm whether your frame uses double, triple, or single-flange idler layouts.
  • Track Rollers: Inspect bottom rollers for flat spots, seized bearings, or oil leaks. Faulty rollers can cause premature cracking and wear to the rubber compound around the track guides.

Shipping, Warranty, and Specialist Support

With over 19 US warehouses, we ship directly from our closest regional warehouse to your location. Most orders deliver in 1 to 2 business days so you can get your track loader back to work.

  • Warranty Details: Our skid steer tracks are backed by a 24-Month or 1,200-Hour pro-rated warranty protecting against any manufacturing defects.

Rubber Track Maintenance

To maximize the service life of your new premium rubber tracks and prevent unexpected job site downtime, follow these essential manufacturer care tips:
  • Maintain Correct Tension: Never “eyeball” your track sag. Over-tightening robs horsepower, strains drive bearings, and can snap internal steel cables. Under-tightening causes detracking, which instantly destroys the track’s internal drive lugs. Check your operator’s manual for exact sag tolerances.
  • Daily End-of-Shift Cleanouts: Use a spade or pressure washer to clear mud, clay, and gravel from the undercarriage frames daily. Packed debris hardens overnight, acting like heavy-grit sandpaper that grinds down rubberized surfaces and seizes bottom rollers.
  • Inspect Sprockets & Rollers: Never install a brand-new rubber track on a worn-out undercarriage. Sharp or “shark-toothed” sprockets will actively gouge and tear out your new track’s drive lugs. Ensure bottom rollers spin freely and check idlers for rough rims or bad bearings.
  • Practice Smart Operating Habits: Avoid high-speed, 90-degree pivot turns on concrete or asphalt to prevent severe tread scalloping (especially if not using a block tread). Always approach curbs straight-on (perpendicularly) and travel straight up or down grades—never sideways—to prevent edge slicing and derailment.
